All I have to say is that board is the most poorly moderated board I am aware of.

I second that. I posted a link in open forum and somebdy didnt think it was funny and next thing you know the link isgone and I am being told in PM to not do that anymore. I put the link back up and get told not to edit my post after moderators do.

Well, they have previously asked not to post items making fun of the retarded or otherwise disabled people. Probably because it's extremely cruel and not funny. I can't really get behind this one.

I do have a problem with how PCSG moderates their board.

At the same time there are some things that are just too offensive to allow.

This got me thinking a bit about the job of a moderator.

What should they use to make their decision?

How the majority feel?

How many complaints they receive?

Maybe a bit of common sense?

Not a job I would want. smile.gif

Well, for one thing, they need to learn how to use the thread lock feature before threads get out of hand. Locking a thread will diffuse a bad situation from getting worse.

Or maybe a member lock. laugh.gif

Seriously I like the idea of one day time outs.

Sometimes folks just loose it. I know I have.

I'm on another message board where topics get locked if somebody says "boo." It can definitely be overused, too.

I was thinking that as well.

I hate it when a great thread gets killed.

This has to po the author.

Some boards do overuse it. But I could name probably ten threads over there in the last three months that should have been locked. What happens is you have a heated debate, it's over and done with, then a few days later an instigator bumps it to get it going again.
