Welcome! I am not sure where to find info on this particular mintmark error but I'm sure some here will. You might try cherrypickers or coneca for more info.

CPG Guide list it as 1901/00 FS#G-006 and has a pic. VF - $175 stating it is considered very scarce but seldom commands much premium over the price of the normal coin. Of course that's the old book and I havn't seen the new Vol II yet. Google search is a good start too.

The one I'm looking at has 79 in grade 64, 25 higher, and a total pop 401. (Of course with just NGC and PCGS known numbers). When you subtract the above from the 401, that leaves 297 in all grades below MS-64. Total mint 3,684,000.

Grey sheet is $2150. for MS64. They are close to Condition Rarity at that level. NGC has graded only 21 coins in MS64 with 14 higher. I put together a short set of 1900-08 Half Eagles and seldom saw this variety above AU58 during the (4) years that I was building the set.

The reality of US gold collecting is that populations sometimes do not reflect availability. Many of the scarcer dates and varieties are closely held and thus, don't trade very often. Looking at the pops of Half Eagles, it would appear that most post-1900 dates are readily available but this is not the case for several dates.
