Is that just colorful corrosion? wink.gif

Seriously, though, that one looks like Liberty of the Sea. Great looking coin.

Having seen this coin, I can tell you the coin looks even better in hand, The Picture just does not show this coin to its best. Color and luster like you dream about. It is certainly one of the top 3 toners I have ever seen.

I like the coin but the saturated photo-shopped effects have to go...

A friend of mine did the imaging - He scanned it, but it was not "Photoshopped" It's going to be sent out to be digitally photographed by an excellant photographer - I'll post the digital photographs when it's done for comparison. In hand the colors are brighter and the coin is very lusterous - The coin is actually much nicer than the image posted above.

Brandon Kelley is no better in this regard Ron, and most know it.

Some sort of photo manipulation software was used (misused). My guess is that the coin looks more like this after the saturation is turned down to normal:

No it LOOKS like this:

but the colors of the coin are more lusterous and more vibrent! the image above is slightly darker tham the coin - it's brighter in hand. - the image as you have "manipulated" it is not even close, as those who have seen this coin in hand will verify.

So the entire reverse is that pale green/blue tint? wink.gif

Don't really know - I never bother to look at the reverse. wink.gif

I was more concerned with capturing the the actual colors of the obverse. I do know that the coin was scanned by someone other than myself and as I don't use a scanner for imaging, I don't know what happens when a white reverse is scanned with a scanner. With regard to your inaccurate"guess" as to the obverse colors, as you've never seen the obverse, how could you possibly be able to correctly capture the obverse colors by playing with some imaging software? That's like trying to give a book review on a book you've never read.

I disagree. I know doctored pics when I see them and yours has all of the tell-tale signs of having the saturation and/or hues altered. I turned down the saturation on your obverse/reverse combo until the reverse lost the unnatural green/blue tint caused by manipulating the saturation effect. Turning up the saturation is a common practice used by eBay sellers to make the coins appear glow-in-the-dark.

If you "Know" doctored" images without ever seeing the coin, you must be very smart. You can probably grade coins from images also, a very rare ability.

Unfortunately what you don't know is what the coin looks like in hand, so what you think you know doesn't comport with reality, a minor problem, but not something that's necessary for those who who don't need to see that actual coin to be able to tell whether the image is accuarate as to the colors of the coin. The other thing that you apparently DON'T know is that both sides of a coin cannot be scanned at the same time - confused.gif the 2 sides were scanned separately and each image is preceived differently by the dumb machine scanner -- an untoned, white surface reflects light back at the scanner, a toned surface absorbs light and there is less light reflected back. What you've done is "color" correct the white side and smart as you may be, you didn't account for the fact that the 2 images were scanned separately and the toned side needed no "correction". Something like taking 2 photos - 1 with the sun behind you and 1 with the sun behind the subject you are photographing - If you put the images together and "correct" either of them, the other will be completely wrong.

Whatever your assumptions are they are quite inaccuarate and not having seen the coin in hand, you cannot "correct" the image and get an accurate picture of the coin. BTW, it is quite lusterous and it does "glow" - it doesn't need any "enhancement" as that's what it actually looks like - the inaccuracy in the image is that the colors are actually more intense and brighter than the image which I posted.

Well, guess/speculate however you like - but until you actually see the coin, you really cannot accurately describe what it looks like or whether the image posted is accurate.

superb green color

i love it rare for a morgan

how is the vibrancy??

Michael - the vibrancy is very nice the colors are very intense, there is great underlying luster, so the coin really glows as you rotate it in the light - - very symetrical bands of color and its really high end for the grade - if you've ever seen Andy Kimmels neon monster, you'll have an idea what this coin looks like in hand (But Andy coin is probably one of the top 2 or 3 toned Morgans in existance - this coin approaches that look)
