A Neat Toned Peace Dollar

Very pretty and unusual! I don't think i've seen any quite like it. How does the color lie on the coin when holding it in hand? I found that pics like this can be a bit unintentionally misleading. Of course, I'm still of the belief that a photo is barely above sight unseen.

The image was taken in such a manner so as to emphasize the colors (basically ignoring the luster). When imaging certain coins you sometimes have to sacrifice the luster to capture the color (or vice versa if you want to show the luster) - I have several toned coins that cannot be accurately imaged because of the color/luster characteristics. - In hand the toning has a nice vibrent look and is typical of the few toned Peace Dollars that you encounter. It's just unusual to see a Peace Dollar toned this nicely - I've seen a couple of Binions that have the same Green, this one got lucky - it has some nice Reds to go with the Greens Peace Dollars with Killer toing are much rarer than nicely toned Morgans.

As has been said, I don't think I have ever seen toning quite like this one.

"a photo is barely above sight unseen."? Even a good photo can't capture the "life" of a coin's surface. It can only show one angle and one (or two) play of light on the coin. You can't turn a photo around and see the light hit it from different angles. Anyone play with the surround/panorama photos to show a coin from 360 degrees? I might try that. It would be a lot of work, but it could be cool. They are doing it with interiors of houses now on the real estate sites, so it can't be that difficult to do.

I wish I could see that one in-hand next to ArtR's '26-D (of is it '26-S?). thumbsup2.gif

Tom - I'm sure that Art's is better - as I told him a long time ago - Mine's chump change compared to his. (He did mention to me that he buys "Chump change")
