Another Nice Toned Morgan

For those not in the know....that is the toughest color to find on a Morgan...especially with that near 100% coverage........that's a Monster if I ever saw one takeit.gif

That's stunning. Is there somewhat of a textile effect in the obverse field in front of Ms Liberty?

Pure emerald green like this is only second in difficulty, in my opinion and experience, to pure blood red for naturally toned silver coinage.

Tom - you may be correct - "Red" is actual the transition from the Copper color as it transitions to Magenta as the silver sulfide atoms become thicker on the coin - I don't think you can see it in the image of this coin, but there is a Dark RED color laying in the folds of her hair - a very cool look when you tilt it a little in the light - the red "glows" back at you - in addition to it being a "Green Monster" - it's also a "Neon Monster" cool.gif

I don't think there's any textile to speak of (I'll have to look at the coin again to check), but there is a slight mottled effect

I agree with TomB that at or near full coverage Red is the toughest color. In my 30+ years of collecting and looking at toned Morgans I have never seen a cherry red Morgan that carried 90% to 100% coverage. The most red coverage I have ever seen was a coin that was around 75%.

Ron, great looking coin. thumbsup2.gif
