Lots of coins aren't in the Krause, including many common coins. NGC grades these.

I'd send in the coin with a photocopy of the listing in the Chinese reference book.

BTW, NGC recently authenticated and graded a 17th century Italian coin for me that is not listed in Krause. In fact, as far as I know, it is not listed in *any* reference book that I am aware of.

If you would include a copy of the page from your reference material as well as what reference book it came from we will do our best to attribute and grade your coin.

BTW Greg your coin is in the Krause Catalog.

Which coin? I submitted two 17th century Italian coins at the same time.

The above coin is listed in Krause. I've got a bunch of these coins. It's actually a Ducato and not a Scudo as the insert says. Christo_pull_hair.gif

This coin is not listed in Krause as far as I could see. In the current edition of Krause the denomination isn't even listed. mad.gif In the previous edition, I believe the coin TYPE was listed, but not this date.

If you have anything further on this coin, I'd love to have it. I purchased it from a very educated dealer who couldn't find info on it and also said it wasn't listed in Craig.

This is encouraging. I also had submitted a Greek coin that is unlisted as a proof in Krause, it's KM159, the 1990 100 drs in brass, first year of issue and the coin is undoubtedly a proof, with all the caracteristics of a proof coin, cameo, raised and very sharp edges etc, and a certificate of authenticity that was not submitted with the coin, but it came back as an MS67 only.I'll have it with me at the ANA show along with the certificate this time, and I hope it will be certified as the rare proof it is . I'll also have a regular strike in gem quality to show the unmissable multiple differences. As it was a first year of issue ,I wouldn't be surprised if this was a special strike of a very small mintage for presentation purposes or gifts to high ranking officials.

Thanks

Greg, I think if can find a set of CNI (Corpous Numourum Italicorum) you will find your coin included in the date ranage of this type. It is possibly very scarce. I cannot recall another example.

Dimitri, I would like to have a look at your Greek 100 Drachma. If you submit it with a "business strike" at the ANA for designation review I'll try reattribute it at that time.
