Would love to hear your comments on my Guest Commentary in Coin World

The June 27th issue carries my commentary about the 2-cent Small Motto mintage. To be honest, I've only heard a couple of people mention this, maybe this is reflective of the low number of 2-cent collectors out there.

Thanks,

Bruce

I read some discussion across the street. I think most people who collect these agree with you. However, most people don't collect these and don't care. I can't comment on the article since I don't take Coin World.

As for me, I have two glaring holes in my set. I don't have either of these coins. I do see more 1864 SMs offered though. I'm not real big on varieties and don't feel a compelling need to even got one, but I really do need to find a nice 1872 and maybe even a proof 1873.

BTW, I consider my Linclon cent collection complete though I don't own a deffective 1922-D that lost it's mintmark or a 1955 doubled die.

Yes, the 1872 is more than a little tough to get. I don't want people to get me wrong, though, the 1864SM is still a tough date. It's just a bit more available than Breen (and old time conventional wisdom) would lead people to believe. I would consider my 2-cent collection complete without the 1873. The 1873 is a VERY pricey coin, especially when compared to other early proofs. I'm missing the 1869 and 1870 2-cent coins and I'm having one hell of a time trying to find them in XF+ (circulated only) condition.
