Owen92584
Hello, found this 1965 quarter in my change, just curious if anyone thinks it might be worth anything? Thanks!
RWB
Nope. Worth 25-cents. Why do you think it might be valuable? powermad5000

Contrary to popular belief you cannot trust everything on the internet, in fact there is far more misinformation posted on the internet by people that are only looking for clicks on their page to make money. Yes this date can be worth a few hundred dollars, but only in exceptional condition, which your coin is not. And to answer your question yes this coin does have a value, exactly 25 cents. Sandon
Welcome to the NGC chat board. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of misinformation on the internet about coins. Please read the following recent article by a prominent coin dealer: Jeff Garrett: Fake News and Misinformation in Numismatics | NGC (ngccoin.com). The 1965 Washington quarter, the first copper nickel clad (base metal) issue, had a very large mintage of 1,819,717,540 pieces. Even typical uncirculated pieces are only worth a few dollars retail. A worn coin like yours is only worth face value. An uncirculated piece in extraordinarily high grade and so certified by a grading service could command a substantial price from a small group of collectors who compete for purportedly "finest known" examples of even very common coins. Such a coin could not be found in pocket change. powermad5000
powermad5000
Hello and welcome to the forum! A quarter of this year in good condition would look nothing like the worn and circulated example you have provided here. I am including a photo in my response of one that is in good condition, and not even in the best condition as those of the value you are speaking that you read on some website. You have to keep in mind when it comes to numismatics and the internet, there are plenty of click bait sites with completely false information but they get paid anyway if you click on their bogus information, as well as plenty of dishonest people who are trying to trick you with bogus information to sell you a coin for a lot of money that isn't actually worth anything but face value. The following photo is of the obverse of a quarter of this year in good condition. Note the overall detail and the luster of the surface. This photo is from NGC Coin Explorer. J P M
I would also like to say that many of these 1965 coins were saved by many people fresh from the bank. These clad coins were something new in 1965 and I bet there are shoe boxes of this date coin all over the country. Some day they will come out of the closet. powermad5000

As your internet source how much THEY will pay you for the coin? Unlikely you'll get a reply. They are likely running a "click bait" shop to profit from the number of people viewing ads on their site. Much like "politicians"or pharmaceutical company executives who pile lie on top of lie but never have solid evidence what they claim is true.
