    I can't see anything anomalous about the mintmark. Of the two 1944 "D" over "S" varieties, one (FS-511) has the remnants of the "S" inside the "D" and the other (FS-512) has them within the mintmark.  You can see images of both of these varieties, as well as several repunched mintmark varieties, at Lincoln Cents, Wheat Reverse (1909-1958) | VarietyPlus® | NGC (ngccoin.com).

Hard to tell if that is just some extra crud around the mintmark, or if the D took a hit (I see a good hit on the numeral 1 as well as other places on the obverse), or if there is a die chip near the top of the D, but I don't see anything suggesting that it is either a D/D or a D/S. For sure it is not a D/S.
