I love her more than my actual sister.Anyways, she moved in while I was in Israel, in September. In early October, she invited me out to the back porch and told me that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Cancer. They caught it early, it hasn't spread, it's localized... all "good" news. She is having Surgery on December 2, and hopefully everything will all be ok after that. It's supposed to be a relatively easy process.Michelle loves flowers. They bring her joy. They brighten her day. They will help her recovery. Please help me fill her room with so many flowers! Quintus Arrius
Note: While I sympathize with the plight of your friend, posting a solicitation for money on an essentially personal, non-numismatic matter, is not in accordance with the Board Guidelines. There are members in good standing here who have suffered cataclysmic losses due to Acts of God, including flooding and wind damage and not a few who have endured financial ruin, irreversible health problems, some brought on by advanced age. This is a Forum devoted to Numismatics running the gamut of coin collection and contributing, incrementally, to increasing the body of knowledge. D.W. The pi-guy lacks the clout to launch a broad, direct appeal to the general membership. If he feels strongly enough about a personal matter he can avail himself of the tools commonly available to everyone else: phone calls, private messenger, private networking. I have to endure panhandling every day on public transport; we would be remiss in our duty as responsible members if we were to allow the professionalism of the Chat Board to devolve into a free-for-all. Popular Post ldhair
It's interesting my thread from 2006 came up in Jason's thread. I was in a dark place at that time. I was staying with my mom while my dad was fighting cancer. I started my thread to help me take my mind away from watching my father pass. This site and it's members helped me get past a bad time and I hope folks here will help Jason do something special. rrantique, The Neophyte Numismatist, GoldFinger1969 and 4 others

IMNSHO. Too late, between your and Kurt's presence here this forum has already devolved to the lowest point it can possibly ever go. So long as NGC allows the chaff to remain this forum can never be a place of professionalism or true learning, just a place for trolls. @physics-fan3.14 my apologies, as my reply has only served to further derail the purpose of your thread, I will not lower myself to the troll's level again. The rules to the thread are that you post the same type as the coin before you, or the same date. Morgan Dollars were being posted, and Larry posted a cutout Morgan. Same coin, so it follows the rules. It is no different than when I posted a dateless off-center Roosevelt dime when Roosevelt dimes were being played. A Roosevelt is a Roosevelt, and a Morgan is a Morgan, regardless of whether or not you can see the whole coin or the date. A blank Morgan planchet would have been just as much in agreement with the rules. Sorry, Jason. I hope Michelle recovers quickly and without any lingering cancer. GoldFinger1969
New diagnostic tests can give clues about cancer from blood samples. They're relatively new, but offer fantastic progress. Many cancers that were death sentences 50 years ago are now very manageable. Non-Hodgkins leukemia and other blood disorders, for instance. But we still have some virulent ones that we have no defense against. Edited November 17, 2022 by GoldFinger1969 Hoghead515
Popular Post MorganMan
Sorry about your friend's cancer. Cancer sux. I lost my wife to cancer in 2010. Dang it guys, stop the bantering. We had a post just last week where a user was done with the board because of this . If you want to donate, donate. If you don't, then don't! While I agree this forum (US, World, and Ancient coins) is not the place for this type of thread, there is no need for the nastiness shown here. Popular Post VKurtB
Ironically, I’d bet Dena and others’ attentions are more than usual on David’s own cancer struggles right now. Both my parents died of metastatic cancers that got into their brains, causing horrific nightmarish experiences for their final weeks. One breast cancer, one melanoma. I’d never wish this disease on ANYONE. The only reason it hasn’t taken me is the nature of my public employee retiree health care plan. All have been caught early. Quintus Arrius
🐓: Hey Q! Out of all the posts, guess which one the powers-that-be found irredeemably objectionable and removed? Q.A.: I haven't a clue. 🐓: You're not going to believe this! The one where you lamented the fact that a [long-time] member referred to us, pejoratively, as chaff. Q.A.: You kiddin' me? They overlooked everything else?... Just goes to show, you'll have a better chance of palming off a jalopy as a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost than an off-topic post on a numismatic forum. We love everybody though, right? 🐓: You bet! This is the Forum where everybody gets to re-invent themselves [and re-write the Guidelines] daily. Popular Post physics-fan3.14
Michelle's surgery was today. I got a lot of flowers yesterday, arranged them all, etc. Her sister helped put them all in her room (she's staying at her parents house for the first week or two) because I had to work today. Michelle's doctor said the surgery went very smoothly, no evident signs of cancer remaining. She just got home and saw the flowers, and said she could feel the love and support. To everyone who helped.... a huge thank you, from me, from her, from all of our family. There's a bit of a road left with the recovery, but she's almost there. This is just a portion of the flowers we got. She loves sunflowers, but tulips are her favorite. I was really worried... because this is not the time of year for either of those. But I was able to find them, and she absolutely loved them. Again, thank you all.
