Blue Ribbon Coin Write-ups

5 posts in this topic

I just spent a great couple of hours browsing the items for sale on eBay by Anaconda Rare Coins. I know that Adrian (its owner) posts here from time to time, and I just have to say the write-ups on some of these coins (not to mention the coins themselves) are super and very entertaining. For example, he has a 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 Octagonal PCGS MS65 up there that just blows my mind. And did I mention I learned stuff?

Anyway, my comment is along the lines of others I read here directed to folks who provide nice photos and write-ups for coins on eBay and in Registry sets: bravo. It really sets you apart when you take the time to share what you like about the pieces in a collection.

For example, check out the photos and descriptions in Barry's Peace Gems. This person clearly appreciates his acquisitions and provides great tidbits for someone (like myself) eager to learn.

Hi Beijim,

Adrian has some of the most beautifully toned coins I have ever found for sale. He's also a nice guy to deal with. I bought a MS-65 white 1936d Cincinnati comm. from him awhile back. I can't bring myself to pay the prices he wants for his toned coins, even through they are probably worth every penny!.

I have seen the PCGS MS65 1915-S Panama-Pacific $50 Octagonal on his site before and boy is that some coin or what? It's just amazing!

I feel that one of the best things about the Internet is that we can see coins like these even though we may never be able to own them.

Hi John,

Yes, Adrian's reputation precedes him on these boards, and I hope to meet him at a show sometime. His toned coins are definitely monsters. The Pan-Pacific gold piece was just awesome. Part of the reason it caught my attention was the beautiful photography. That seemed another hallmark of his eBay items - great coin photography.

I agree about the Internet - it's cool to see high resolution, larger than life photos of these coins because you not only get the thrill of seeing them, but you learn something about grading in the bargain. And it's a lot less expensive than buying all the coins yourself for private inspection smile.gif.

A couple of his coins in the $1,500 range were interesting. Maybe when I have a chance to see him at a show, I can sit down and look through a bunch of totally unaffordable beauties, then "settle" for a cheapie. It will still feel like I've been baaad !!!

Hi Michael!

By the way, I enjoy the coins you post as well. Some of those toned specimens are superb! You seem to have a real knack for finding the STAR * pieces, which of course makes the rest of us totally envious.

Thanks for the pointer to the dark side registry wink.gif. I lurk there sometimes and will be certain to check out the set you mention.

Sincerely,

Beijim
