Popular Post VKurtB
Today for the first time since my major surgery, I got back out into the world. I got sent to WalMart to pick up some groceries. I paid cash (lots of it). In my change, I got a coin worthy of comment, BUT ONLY THAT!!!! Many newbies here have made similar finds, and gotten all excited about their find. Do NOT expect it of me. I got a 1968 fully red cent that I might grade MS64 or MS65. That’s a 54 year old coin that LITERALLY looks nicer than many 2021 coins. THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL. This date is almost dead center of the solid BU roll collecting era. I have to look at my Dansco album piece. This one MIGHT be nicer. Point is - this stuff happens all the time. People occasionally get rid of stuff. tj96
Nice to hear you're getting out. That 68 must have been tucked away somewhere and protected your years. Good luck with the Dansco!
Popular Post VKurtB
My wife somehow managed to find the correct Dansco upstairs. The WalMart cent is a HUGE upgrade to my Dansco piece. Not even close. Somehow, my Dansco album had been holding much nicer D and S 1968 cents than the Philly one. Not normal for a collection assembled in eastern Pennsylvania. All is now as it should be. Stairs are still tough for me, way harder than driving or walking on level ground. In 9 days, I fly to the ANA show in Colorado Springs, where I have a VERRRRRRY full agenda - exhibit judging, two different ANA standing committee meetings, an auction of British material, and working the table holders’ registration booth for the ANA. My original hope was to drive both ways, but the surgery made that kind of unwise. J P M
Get out must have been a treat even if it was Wally World. I hear what your saying. There are a lot out there. I have been saving any circulated Reds I find to put in some new Whitman folders. No MS coins just road warriors that I have been picking up over the years. Like this piggy bank 40 I found yesterday. Member: Seasoned Veteran DWLange Posted February 28, 2022 Member: Seasoned Veteran Share Posted February 28, 2022 Frequently I buy collections of cents and nickels simply to obtain the folder or album for my collection of same. Most of the coins have little or no premium value, so they often get rolled for the bank or just dumped into my car's ashtray for making exact change when needed. These collections sometimes include AU or MS coins from the 1940s-60s which should have a collector premium, but there were simply too many saved. It's analogous to the countless stamps that survive in sheets and are still being used for postage by persons who purchase them below face value.
