BOLO Looking For Mobile Jockey Club Tokens
0

13 posts in this topic

I started a much more difficult task last year than I realized. There are 40 known tokens from the Mobile Jockey Club from the 1850s/1860s that are compromised of various mules and metal compositions. To date I have found 6 of the 40 and have been searching for the others. If anyone happens to see any of these in your searches or auction sites please let me know. I have a goal of finding all 40 if at all possible. Here is what I have so far.

Wow, that is quite an endeavor. I tried for a silver version last year but a dealer bid higher. It still sits for sale on his website.

I only have one.1853 Mobile Jockey Club Members medal.  E M-ALA-3 NGC MS 64 RB

That’s a beauty in RB. I wish that wasn’t one I had. I’m in no hurry but I need to stay diligent. 4 of the 6 came from one Stacks auction last year. These things are hard to find.

Where is the silver one? That is one of the hardest to find. Which dealer has it?

Thank you. I was not aware of that dealer, but I see it. I will be calling him tomorrow to see what he would take for it.

I am curious thought the coin from that Stacks auction was in an NGC slab. The one this dealer has is in a PCGS slab.

This is a very cool, personalized collection!  I love it.(thumbsu

I’ve got just a passion project of coins and exonumia related to my home state. I’ve tried to put together everything from state quarters to civil war token. I need to take the time to actually put it into a well constructed custom registry set. I started and never put any time towards it.

It looks like the same token. They apparently crossed it. It has a Garrett/Partrick provenance, although the latter is not on the new holder.

I can’t imagine why he would, but I guess he did cross it I agree.

I was thinking the same thing. I can see crossing something like some early gold that would definitely bring a higher price in a PCGS holder, but I don't understand paying the extra money to cross a token.
