Mis-placed mint mark on 1970 d Jefferson nickel?

Although it is a little low, the mint marks were hand stamped into the dies so they can appear anywhere in that area below the date and right of the head. Don’t forget that there would have been hundreds of thousands of coins struck from that die so there are many more out there in that position.

All good points Greenstang.  I've seen mint marks in several different positions on Jefferson Nickels of the 1968-1970 date range from both San Fran and Denver.
