The edge makes it look like it's a very thin cent also. Thinking this was ground down on purpose. Looks like a damaged coin.

The obv (head) side is also damaged, likely from whatever the person used to hold the coin while working on the rev side.   Here is what an undamaged 1918-D cent should look like.
