My is this Morgan selling for so much ?

It is for all dollar coins. Not just the morgans. Look at Ikes and SBA labeling. Most people refer to them as just silver dollars anyway. Shorthand would be S$.

Well, when gold dollars were still being minted the G and S designation with the $1 makes sense. It is after the gold dollars were discontinued that the S didn't make sense again till Ikes were made.

Bunch of people have done exactly what you did. The first couple times I looked at Heritage auctions I thought the same thing.

We at Heritage are quite aware of how easy it is to confuse the S$1 denomination with an S-mintmarked coin. A fix for this has been in the works for a while, and we expect it to be up, running, and much less confusing within the next day or so.
