What does AR/GS stand for on the NGC label?

Several NGC medals I have show a designation of AR/GS on the label, but I do not know what AR/GS stands for.  I believe this is the 'metal type', as in silver, bronze, white metal, etc, but what is AR/GS?  I assume it is an abbreviation for something.  thank you.

I believe the GS is for German Silver.  The A is probably for Antique, but don't see where the R comes in.  It would be astounded if it meant Antique Rubbed German Silver, but for the ones I have, that actually describes the medal pretty well.

Ideas?
