Great start. The only objection is the “hot” middle of the coin. You are making great progress. :applause:

@MorganMan

(Actual conversation I had with myself after wakin' up from a bad dream at 0400 hrs)...

"Oh  OK, Morgan Guy... hey, must've changed those new coins... (puts on glasses).  Oh, centennial.... but those dates are way off. Biden and the son he lost, Beau, behind him in uniform...

:  "I like it. One"s lookin" one way. The other's lookin' the other way. The Old S.F. Mint. But what's that gotta do with this?  1890-1990? Didn't realize he had gotten so old. Wonder if Columbia had to let him go? Says "Eisenhower home" on the reverse. Wonder if he went back to Independence, MO.? OH, WAIT, that was Truman; forget where Ike's from. Wonder if Biden uses 'THE BUCK STOPS HERE' sign. Be nice to see him retire; where's the new generation.... Funny how I never got one of

these in change...

Great piece, MorganMan. (thumbsu

I won this one at a coin club auction for 10 dollars several years back. It is a really nice coin, but was hard to photograph as it is still in the plastic holder it came in from the mint.

My appreciation to @MorganMan for keeping it simple: a date, a beefy bison and no acknowledgment at what was done to the native population discovered inadvertently living here peaceably for God knows how long before other more civilized people arrived who brought them disease, forced them to participate in long marches and confiscated their lands at gunpoint without due process and competition. The Acts engaged by the former were performed with God's blessing; the latter were excoriated as strategic impediments. We honor none of them today and some five hundred years later it is more than likely we never will except as minor footnotes in history as commemorated in statues and coins.  🐓

I had heard about this coin, but it is safe to say since no 1964-D Peace dollars have surfaced, though authorized, an order that was later countermanded [with all subsequently melted] it is safe to say you are in possession of a rarely seen last Peace silver dollar in the series produced for circulation in the United States -- and a lovely example at that!  🐓

I do include the wholesalers in my mini-rant, at least. And that includes at least two ANA “Dealers of the Year”, probably more.

You are definitely ahead of me in thought...I sold a few hundred proof sets, almost 300 Lincoln Commemorative proof Silver dollars and other runs at shows to other dealers and especially in Mississippi I got an education about where those go..everyone really was selling what they had, I brought the sets cuz it was pre planned like the others. A couple well known dealers bought all of us had...I didn't ask but was told it was telemarketing and QVC guys had connections, ( I know  this is just a small part of coin world that exists) but I figure I contributed to that insanity. I wasn't complaining during the 2014-2016 show circuit period to get 10% over greysheet, probably still didn't help the hobby, where the sets went anyway.

@Numismatic, A.A.S. You bring up a good point which behooves us all to equal or better it.  If someone were to ask you if you could ever possibly be the victim of a scam such as those that seem to afflict the elderly and infirm, intermittently, involving the loss of their entire life savings, you would likely state with no equivocation that such could never happen to you, correct?  But the simple truth of the matter is the practiced scam artist has had an abundance of time with which to hone his craft and with a heightened sense of smell to vulnerabilities such as indecisiveness and vaccilation, chooses his weapon from a vast array with great care and strikes with precision.

As it takes two to tango, he is powerless against the educated consumer with a strong resolve against those appealing for his complicity as dictated by common sense, logic and similar prior experience.

Your state lottery says, You have to be in it to win it. And I have no opinion on those who do so long as they understand what gambling and casinos are in business for.  I believe the vast majority of winners are the ones who stay out of them.  Nothing is guaranteed in life but you'll do better if you take your time, familiarize yourself with the subject matter and deal with reputable sources with a proven track record of success.  And since it is difficult for a simple person with simple tastes to win big consistently, you can always modify your expectations and learn how to minimize your losses. Very often you can come out ahead by doing absolutely nothing at all but walk away.  😉

Thank you for explaining. I get you. I would not Of'Course be cool scamming people and some things have happened to me like that. I was explaining to Kurt about the large amounts of proof sets and silver commemoratives I was part of selling to dealers and directly, at the shows it can move fast and looking back now I realize where it went...telemarketing, mass sales, QVC..I totally relate to the Casino thing as I stay clear of that unless a coin show there, gambling involves loss of money so I don't gamble...But I do struggle with a drink so I imagine we have to understand what those places are in business for (like you wrote above)....peace

I did sneak one clad coin in there though. This is just a cropped image of a screenshot of the thumbnails of my digital iPhone album I have of all my slabbed coins. I don’t collect many modern coins so by chance there was only one clad mixed in there in those rows of silver coins  🌞

@Mr_Spud... a personal challenge, huh? Little late to do it tonite, but I am going to see if I can find it tomorrow. Nine by thirteen... 117 total, a good half of which can be eliminated though I lack the resolution capability. We'll see. Great silver!  👍

This has to be the absolute Last Word in toning (or lack thereof) in silver coins from dimes to dollars. Surely @VKurtBwill agree.  Nice compilation, @Mr_Spud !  ^^

Only one or two of the “Mr_Spud 117” disturb me. The clad one is the Atlanta Olympics baseball half dollars, which is no slouch. The Atlanta Olympic set has done well, some VERY well.

This is what I get for assuming you would confine your remarks to toning... Yes, the Atlanta Olympics wins by default only because it seems so glaringly out of place in a classic collection of silver American coins.  (thumbsu

That's one of the most appealing 1934 Washingtons I have ever seen, Hog.  Nice piece!

One of the "most appealing 1934 Washingtons" needs a good back story.  Here's one:  this is the "good luck" quarter that fell out of [John] Dillinger's vest pocket at the coroner's office after J. Edgar's G-men tracked him down and ambushed him outside a Chicago theater with help from The Lady in Red that fateful nite long ago.  :roflmao:
