New Morgan Arrived Today ... My Prettiest Coin So Far

It is an 1880 CC NGC MS65 in the old NGC slab that I paid $787.00 for on Ebay last week. These pictures do not do it justice as I am new at photographing coins ... this coin is VERY gold and the edges around the toned parts look quite blue. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this coin moved me when I opened the package. I have searched the internet on this topic and it appears that I have the 8 over low 7 variety. However, I still can't find how to tell if it is a reverse of 78 or reverse of 79. Help???

It is not a '78 Reverse because the top arrow feathers would be parallel to the other feathers. Notice how they are slanted to the right on your coin.

That's a pretty darn good picture for someone just starting out photographing coins. It looks like it has lots of character and the colors look like they would be more vibrant in-hand.

Nice Coin and welcome aboard ! What I like best about your coin and photography skills is that it illustrates a great example of original toning. Tell tale sign is how the color on the obverse runs through the letters versus over them.

Man! An awesome coin! I am not a grader, but it looks MS67 to me. You paid a very fair price for the coin. I can only hope to be able to afford such a nice coin.

 

Thanks for sharing and I think you have the photograpy thing down, perhaps play with lighing a bit. (not a criticism!)
