FS-020.2 in NGC slab title

2 posts in this topic

Hi,

I'm a newbie to collecting so please be patient. I'm looking at a 1937-D 3 Leg Buffalo with the notation FS-020.2 in the title of the NGC slab.

Can you tell me what that means and where I might find this and other 'codes'?

Thank you,

Glosnik

FS stands for Bill Fivaz and J. T. Stanton or Fivaz Stanton, the authors of the Cherrypickers' Guide. The Cherrypickers' Guide is the guide that NGC currently uses for variety attribution on many of the United States coins series. In the Cherrypickers’ Guide the coins are listed by FS numbers. The 1937-D 3 Legged Buffalo Nickel is listed as FS-020.2 in the Cherrypickers’ Guide and thus NGC current lists this variety with the FS number on the holder. You can find reference to all FS numbers in the Cherrypickers’ Guide.
