Welcome to The Forum.

The most likely explanation for the appearance of your coin is that it was plated sometime after leaving the mint. Lincoln cents seem to be the most popular subject of science experiments or bored employees of machine / plating shops. There are, quite literally, thousands of these running around "in the wild."

Also, silver or silver plating will have a slightly off-white color, rather then the gray of your coin. The plating is likely zinc.
