BankNote1,

A Sintered Planchet is when a planchet is covered by copper dust by mistake. This can happen when the planchets go through the annealing process.

Your welcome BankNote1!

I am not really into errors but have seen some sintered planchet errors on both nickels and quarters at coin shows.

They sort of look like the coin was struck on a copper planchet, but it's really just copper dust that attached itself to the outside of the planchet during the annealing process.
