Was there ever discussion in 1937 of bringing back the gold eagle? 0

Asking because I recently acquired a pendant that has supposedly been a family heirloom since the 1950’s and has Roman numerals that say 1937.  SEM testing has already confirmed 91.67% gold in the 1/10th ounce coin.
