Question about a dime 0

Very new to the coin hunting game, I came across a 1985 D dime that I definitely think deserves a look, but just not by me! I don’t think that the edges have been sanded or ground down, there aren’t any lines or scars to give me the feeling, plus the area in question being the outer edge while the head shows no signs... any suggestions on what this is? Worth it to have it looked at professionally? Any thoughts are appreciated, thank you...

That is not an error  but damage.(PMD) The fact that there is no rim tells you that whatever happened to the coin occured after the coin was minted.
