Welcome, Jeanette. Bob's right; that's what we call PMD (post-mint damage). But it's a perfectly reasonable question to have asked.

No problem. The well-cropped and blown-up photos were great. We didn't have to ask you for pictures of the other side (a lot of people seem to think we don't need that). They were quite clear--good detail. You asked an actual question (you cannot imagine how many people just post a pic without any commentary or inquiry, great if we were all psychics). And then when you got the answer, you didn't start a debate about it. It was like the ideal inquiry. We love this because we really do like to help and it's great when someone doesn't throw us a bunch of obstacles to helping. Definitely keep collecting.

My observation is that the semi-circular damage on the obverse is precisely mirrored with semi-circular damage on the reverse. Jammed into a coin slot? Also the reverse seems to be slightly misaligned. Still worth a quarter.
