hi everyone. newbie here.

i've wondered if the mintages are posted somewhere online for us coins. i'd prefer not to buy the book by yeoman every year and that isn't up to date as they leave a few years open. i'm quite sure the government knows by the beginning of a year what the previous year mintages were.

WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!!!

Actually I don't know of a site that lists the mintages per say...most use either one of the coin mags available or the redbook. What is your particular interest in the mintages......do you by Mint sets or Proof sets yearly?

Niel, welcome to the boards! Your best bet would probably be to go to your local library and take a look at the Red Book. It still wouldn't give you the most current figures (2005), but those numbers are usually published in Coin World on a regular basis.

tnx shane,

as far as what i like are silver coinage, especially silver eagles, proofs and otherwise, but i have wheats and other odds and ends too.

tnx to you too chris,

it makes me wonder why only a select group get these figures from the government and i've not seen the government put this out online. what's the big secret as it's supposed to be public knowledge and doesn't endanger national security. do we as people have to use that act that releases info to people from the likes of the military and such just to know last years mintages without subscribing to books and mags or even trips to the library? maybe if you have big $ to give them that's what releases it. it shouldn't be something to be sold if that's the case as this government is supposed to serve us and not act as one big business.

Michael, thanks for this site, too! It doesn't look like mintages for moderns have been updated for a while........States Quarters since 2002.........Sacs - none at all........Kennedy's since 2000. Does anyone know why?

ok so i can see how it came about, but they made the rules for the english lang. not me. i have roots in italy and england. it makes 0 difference which way it's spelled as mine is correct for italy, but shortened because most people in the u.s. have little patience to pronounce or spell long names chris. some lack the intelligience to do this too.

p.s. i walk probably more than you ever will in your lifetime.

I didn't ask you to spell antidisestablishmententarianism. I asked you for the correct pronunciation of your first name. I always make it a point to try to pronounce someone's name correctly, no matter what their national origin might be. If I don't know, I'll ask.

"p.s. i walk probably more than you ever will in your lifetime."

Keep on truckin', Aniello, you've got 44 years to catch up.

i don't see the need for pronounciation as you aren't calling me up on a phone, but for my true name aniel it's like saying niel with a short a in front of it. for italian add lo to the end as in the pronounciation of low.

does that help you?

so how old are you then? and how old do you think i am?

I've always preferred to address someone correctly, or, as they prefer. To me, it's a common courtesy. True, this isn't a telephone conversation, but if I ever meet someone who spells his name the same as you, at least I would know how to pronounce it. It makes people feel good about themselves when others show them that simple little courtesy.

I'm older than dirt.............to put it another way...........I was probably playing pool before your parents were born.

As for your age, I doubt that I would offer you a beer or cocktail any time soon. I took a look at your website and, as you stated there, your spelling needs improvement. Please, don't be offended; I'm not making fun of you. My grandmother got me interested in crossword puzzles when I was 5. That was 52 years ago and I still enjoy them today. I don't care for the easy ones anymore; I usually concentrate on the Sunday New York and London Times. My point is that it really helps you learn to spell. That's important for young people when they try to make their way in the world. Employers notice things like spelling, pronunciation, word selection and usage. Unless you're independently wealthy, it's a very competitive world and you should be armed with as much knowledge as possible. You never stop learning.

Yes, I have! You've been reading it. As you stated, ".....you haven't given me none......".

That is called a double negative. It's the same as in algebra when you multiply a negative (-) by a negative (-)......the answer is positive. So, I must have given you some.

Hey, everybody..................be careful driving because the road ahead is very "slippery", filled with many "curves" and poorly "illuminated". While you're at it, put on your hip boots..............."it" is getting awfully deep!
