You can stick a coin in a colored paper envelope and stick it in a window cell. After a few months the coin will begin to tone.

There are faster and better ways to get a coin to tone if you want it to tone. This is a slower and older fashion method.

Take a silver coin, .800 fine or higher. Place the coin in an old Kraft envelope. Put the envelope on a window sill that gets about 40% direct sunlight during the day. A humid environment helps. Make sure you don't disturb the envelope for weeks at a time, just to peek at the toning. The colors are erratic and vary in color, purple, blue, sometimes dark, nothing concentric. Most of the time it's obvious AT, but sometimes you'll get pretty light colors. Make sure you use and undipped coin, or you'll get spotchy colors. The constant change in temperature interacts with the paper sulfur to create a toning environment.
