1911 -s cent

I'm sorry I don't yet know how to link to ebay for complaints or conjecture. However, I ran across this coin by a published author in numismatics. You'd think he or his graders could do better than this. No mention of corrosion or verdigris and imho not even an xf let alone au. item number is 3971813996

Through the years, this guy has been savaged by many Board members. Primarily, the problems are the quality of his coins and the dumb ads with his picture. IMHO most of the people on this site never have and will not buy coins from this guy. I have been seeing his ads (and reading complaints about him) for the past (5) years or so and just ignore him.

To be honest, I'm not so sure it's such a horrible coin. It may be just a scanned image that's been too lightened or something! The details look pretty good for a date that's typically poorly struck.

I'll coincidentally be eBaying three 1911-S cents myself shortly. Hopefully, my images will be more realistic! wink.gif

A few reasons why you should probably avoid:

1) The coin appears to have been stripped.

2) Looks like raised areas on the coin pointing to environmental damage. Don't worry, you can strip these off to make it look 100% stripped rather than the current 80% stripped/20% environmentally damaged.

3) Blue Moon Coins.

4) That PCGS First Strike MS69 = NGC MS70 and it's 10X as rare BS. If this doesn't scream scumbag, I don't know what does.

To be honest.... I don't like that coin even for $25.00 bucks.... but he does seem to have alot of happy customers.... As for the first strike... that is all bs as well... anybody who buys anything that says it is just plain dumb....

((( Hi James, you said you were going to look for me before. I'm still waiting for a lovely xf 45 even color no problem 1911-s. It will be soooo nice to have that set finally done! ))) I found one wink.gif but somehow it ended up in my own set 893whatthe.gif.

Seriously, I haven't found another, but the three coins I'm selling were each cascaded out of my set as I upgraded to my present coin. None of them would suit what you're looking for.

Maybe, just maybe, one will turn up at the Central States show smirk.gif
