1883-P Morgan T100 VAM-10 Sextupled Stars - Value?

5 posts in this topic

Just got back a prescreen dollar deal back from NGC, looking through it, I found an MS-63 1883-P that is definitely a VAM-10.

Fey's MS-63 Top 100 pricing is a bit dated, as I see two ANACS coins sold last year at Heritage.

XF-45 - $260

AU-53 - $375

Once I send it back for the label, this one will be the second MS-63 example on the census - which is the finest certified from NGC.

Any thoughts on value?

Can't decide whether to keep it and start a VAM set, or sell it and put the cash in the business strike Morgans fund. Still need a handful of high grade keys to finish that one!

TIA

Hey Jack! I don't think there are a lot of VAM collectors on this forum. I am just trying to put together a 1878 7TF rev. of '78 B1 set myself. I have to collect the poor VAM's.

I do know a dealer who has a dealer friend that deals in VAM's. I could check with him if you would like me to. I would guess , and it is a total guess, around $2,000.00 or so for the 1883 VAM 10.

I'm not a VAM collector - after some time thinking, I've got a long way to go to finish both a Morgan Set and a U.S. Type set. I'm thinking I'll turn this one into a coin I'll appreciate much more.

I'd hate to throw it up on eBay and have it passed over. If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to hear what your dealer's dealer friend has to say about it. Heck, I'd listen to offers!

Blast white NGC MS-63 with no rim bumps or heavy bruising. No shot at an upgrade, a solid middle range 63.

Thanks for the info!
