1943 Steal pennies Stop Rust, protect

If they are changing that fast, I'd guess they were treated with something to make them look good in the first place or you live in a swamp. Have a picture to post?

The picture makes them look rather glossy - the exact same look they get when they have been replated. Are you sure they haven't been replated?

tideman - You need to get the coins out of the cardboard holder. Cardboard can absorb and retain moisture from air and the staples are way too close to the coins for their own good. Staples in cardboard are well known to make worse any problems with rust or tarnish. Once rust is started on those coins, it is tough to stop. Giving the coins an acetone bath will help with any surface contaminants, but then place them in an inert plastic holder - such as Capital Plastics, Intercept Shield, etc. The latter has inhibitors for airborn agents that may encourage rust.
