Will verdigris on a copper coin cause it to be net graded at ANACS?

I need to know if a very light, one spot, tiny tiny spot of verdigris on a copper coin will cause it to be net graded at ANACS?What about verdigris on copper coins in general? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

What you're describing won't cause it to get net graded. Verdigris spotting gets to the point where they will call a coin corroded. In my understanding, verdigris is not stable chemically. If this is a valuable coin, you may want to have its surfaces neutralized by NCS (or the equivalent) before slabbing it.

I agree with Hoot. IMHO, a small spot should not "net grade" a coin, but I would not leave it that way. I would send it to NCS to remove the verdigris before it does become a problem.

My understanding is that an excess of active verdigris actually may result in a no-grade at ANACS (not a net-grade). That's because the con could continue to deteriorate in the capsule if the corrosion is active.
