Guess the grade of these morgans

17 posts in this topic

I'm going to go high. They seem quite nice.

1879 O MS 65 just enough chatter to knock it down to a low end 65

1893 P MS 66 almost PL with very light chatter, rim hit that doesn't distract

1898 S MS 66 Probably PL and an outstanding look.

Very nice coins that typically get "market graded" so I'm probably off by a mile. I'd be proud to own any of them.

Thanks for all the guesses. It is hard to grade from photos. Here are the grades. Does anyone wish to guess which were approved by CAC? img] <img src=[/img] <a href=1898-s_zpspgm5nqxh.jpg' alt='1898-s_zpsp

1879 O-not CAC

1893-CAC

1898 S-CAC

The 1893 is a very nice coin and free of marks associated with most morgans graded MS 64. Only a lack of luster keeps it from being MS 65. The 1898 S has great luster and I feel is at the top of the grade. Thanks to all who participated.

64, 65, 64PL respectively. Please forgive if any or all are low- I am a very conservative grader of Morgans because they are so common that I think it proper not to push the grades on them.
