Two New Half Dimes

12 posts in this topic

I've developed quite a fondness for half dimes lately. Here a couple of new beauties.

The Bust is an NGC MS64 I bought from Mark Feld. It replaced a rather dull and boring MS65 I had in my type set. Mark has SUCH an eye. cool.gif The Seated is a PCGS MS66. I've always loved blue-green toning on Seated material, but this one mixes in a good measure of yellow, orange and red around the rims with the blue green and majenta. I've not seen many with this appealing mix of color.

I like the older Half Dime shown. It reminds me of one of the many old coins I found in my Dads Laundromat. A 1836 half dime is one of my best finds there.I love the looks of those coins especially the reverse.

Wow, awesome eye-appeal! One can certainly tell that those are Mark Feld coins!! I have a proof Barber dime on the way from him now. Both are exceptional coins and are beautiful types (which is what I collect, BTW). Congrats on the pickups. Quality coins are getting harder and harder to find these days as was evident at the Baltimore show. There were very slender pickings for Mark to choose from. Thanks for sharing those beauties!

p.s. Whoever took those photos had great photography skills. Must not of been Mark, then. 893whatthe.gif

Wow, nice!! I think the 1832 is from previous Heritage sale, but I never thought it was that nice from their image.

I do own some seated half dimes, but none is as pretty as your 1870..very very nice!! I wish Mark will find one like that for me someday cloud9.gif

They are spectacular! smile.gif They have such different looks, yet I am not certain which of the two that I prefer. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif Perhaps you could send me both? insane.gif

Those are some great looking coins. I would love to have some like that in my collection, but they would make my other half dimes feel inferior and I'm sure some hate and discontent would result. I won't even mention the disharmony that would result when my wife found out how much I spent to get such coins. 893whatthe.gif
