Buyers Beware #3 Fake 23-S SLQ

Recently listed on eBay. A very nice 1923-S Standing Liberty Quarter. Raw with lots of detail, nice luster, and multiple bids. Only one problem I can find. It appears to be an altered date. The final digit in the date is not consistent with genuine examples. Genuine 1923-S`s have a flat top numeral 3 in the date not a curved numeral 3,(which is to say that the top of the numeral resembles the top half of a letter Z with the lower portion being curved like a backward letter C.) It is my opinion that this coin has been alter from a 1928-S SLQ. I would advise steering clear of this one folks. But by all means arrive at your own conclusions. I just hate to see good money thrown away, when a nice genuine piece could be had instead. Making both the seller and the BUYER happy.

Dude, you're doing your homework and research. Very educational for us viewers.

As I just mentioned on the merc thread, however, a picture would be a good tool to us all.

Thanks for your input, reid!
