This isn't as bad as it sounds.I'm wondering if any of you have learned of telltell signs that a coin is at.

Second, buy the video How to Tell Artificial Toning from the ANA (www.money.org)

 

Third, look up the AT subject by searching these forums.

 

Fourth, look at lots and lots of coins. If you have a few coins, even pocket change, that you can subject to various tests of AT-ing, then it's a good way to figure out effects that common methods may produce. Those who are masters at AT-ing a coin can produce coins that are virtually not identifiable as AT'd.
