Best places to buy generic silver

5 posts in this topic

I'm looking for rolls of mercury dimes, silver quarters etc...

Where is the best place to buy this kind of stuff at very competitive prices?

Search local coin auctions on Proxibid or Auctionzip. Most publish auction catalogs a week or 2 in advance. Historically (even with buyers fees) you're out the door around the cost of bullion.

There's a local auction here in the Chicago Suburbs on the 28th (D'Atri Auctions) that has at least 20 rolls of dimes and quarters. They're out there.

The Money Marketplace forum here and the Buy, Sell, Trade forum on the PCGS forums are a good place to look for cheap silver. Post on these forums what you are looking for. Since you will dealing with a stranger, only deal with active members with a relatively high post counts. Another option is to buy from one of the major on-line bullion companies such as J-M Bullion. Provident Metals, APMEX, etc.

I've usually had good results at the local aquarium supply store. The have lots of gold and silver fish and they all look generic....or is that geriatric?
