These darned counterfeit trade dollars are everywhere!

6 posts in this topic

This coin is lightly worn throughout, but all features are sharp and well defined. Some wears and hairlines with cleaning, but shinny silver surfaces. Traces of luster may show.. I purchased a lot of early dollars recently and judging by their quality and quantity, these must be "copies" of the original even though they have word "copy" mark on the coin. So Please make offer Accordingly This is a beautiful coin to add to your existing collections .Thank you !

even though........ Goofy

Yes, there are many fake Trade Dollars out there. This one is obviously bad, but there are well made die struck counterfeits out there too. The grading companies reported see a large increase of them about 1 year ago. These have the corect weight, size, and silver composition. Randy of ANACS wrote several articles about them in FUN topics last year.
