GRADE POSTED! Guess the PCI grade! 1947-D Walker

9 posts in this topic

Based on what appears to be a lot of hits in the obverse right field (above IGWT) I would have a hard time calling this higher than MS64 and that would be providing the luster and color are as nice in person as in the picture. I'd guess PCI called it MS65-65.

BTW, the bottom of HALF DOLLAR appears doubled. Have you examined this area to see if it is a doubled die reverse or just mechanical doubling?

I hate grading on scans, but I'll bite.

My grade: MS64, great eye appeal

PCI: MS66.

Nah, PCI MS65.

Nevermind I dont know PCI that well. tonofbricks.gif

Nice color and luster! I will go with the flow (MS64). Too many marks in URH field. However, given that it was graded by PCI, they probably graded it much higher.

Looks like a lot of luster and nice color, but a lot of chatter on both sides. I'll call it an MS63, then add two points for the gold label so it nets out to PCI MS65.

Very pretty coin that I'd like to add to my own album! smile.gif The strike is a tad weak, obv and rev, and there's a bit of chatter scattered about. Some scattered breaks in toning. I'd guess MS64 on my own, but I'm likely wrong.

You guys are very sharp! It was graded by PCI as MS-65, but I have it inventoried as MS-64 due to minor rim tics. It's a very appealing coin, with vigorous toning and potent mint luster. There really are great coins in every holder!

Thanks for all the guesses and comments!

James
