Morgan VAM Question

4 posts in this topic

As a new collector, I have a lot to learn. Today, I decided to learn something about VAM Morgans and Peace Dollars and did a little research on the internet. That inspired me to get out some of my coins and take a look. I found that one of my coins could possibly be a VAM but did not find it listed as such. Is this a Morgan VAM or something else.

Below are the links to photos of the coin:

Thanks,

Hi, John! Naturally, the best source of info on VAM's is the Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars. I think the 4th Edition is the most current. The book is a little pricey, but it is worth it. I was lucky to find a copy in new condition for $34.95.

Updates to the 4th Edition can also be found on Rob Joyce's website and the "Society of Silver Dollar Collectors" You can also contact Leroy Van Allen, e-mail:vams@bright.net.

I hope this helps.

John, that sounds like a fair price. I've seen them advertised for $70-$80 used. When I got mine, I couldn't believe the condition.....I thought it was new!
