2008 Andrew Jackson presidential gold dollar "small date"? On rim?

Is there a small date and regular date? I have to check to make sure but it looks as if it's a smaller 2008 in type on the edge. Anyone ever hear of this? Also is it common on this issue to have a line on the edge? It's like they were checked with a machine on edges.
