I purchased this Morgan (NGC MS64 holder) thinking it was a shot at an upgrade.

I usually don't do so good but I was happy with this one!!!

Beautiful Coin! thumbsup2.gif

This example brings to mind a question I have had... confused-smiley-013.gif

1. Is it better to resubmit NGC coins in holder to them for a chance at upgrade or crack?

2. Is it better to submit cross over coins cracked? (i.e. the "lesser" services)

Thanks to all in advance. hail.gif

I have always submitted coins for crossover or upgrade consideration in their holders and have been happy with the results. I have had a number of coins upgrade that were sent in for crossover in their original holders.

I do know however that some believe they should crackout any coins that they are submitting and that is why I asked how Monty submitted his coin.

I do think that NGC is harder on coins in other companies holders. I have sent in coins in PGCS holders that crossed at the same grade. Then sent them in again in the NGC holder to have the coin upgrade!

I usually send them in the slab, mainly because I don't like to crack them if they are going to cross at same grade. However, most of the slabbed coins that I have sent in looked better to me than the original slab grade. IMHO, that is the purpose of spending the money for regrade services.
