Coin specific cleaners

3 posts in this topic

I know you're not supposed to clean coins. But there ARE special coin cleaners being sold that are made to specifically clean coins. MS70 is one of them.

Another is called Coin Care. Are these safe to use?

I saw a bunch of them for sale here:

Of those listed on that web page, about 1/2 of them are a very bad idea to use on coins. The remaining cleaners have their specific purpose, but you need to know how to use them and what to use them on. For example, E-Z-Est says you can use it one silver, gold, or copper. Using it on copper will destroy the value of the coin.

If you don't know how to properly clean a coin and what to use, don't do it. You'll only end up significantly hurting the value of the coin.
