WHAT WOULD YOU CALL THIS?

 

I have shown this cent before. Still, I like looking at it every now and then. Still trying to figure out just what happened to it and if it deserves a better look by NGC. Give me your thoughts everyone.

My guess is a die scratch, although I can't imagine how a long and straight scratch got on the die. Upon the mint discovering the scratch, they probably would have polished the face of the die and you would have had die polish lines instead.

Looks like a die crack to me also, kind of like the so called dollar sign on Jefferson Nickels. The die crack runs through the S making the S appear as a dollar sign.
