1996 state quarter error

I have a 1996 “p’ state quarter that doesn’t have any edges on the rim and the width of it is wider than a normal quarter. I’ve found out this could be a rare rim shot error. Is there any way to prove this is actually what I have? Thank you.

They didn't make State Quarters in 1996. They started in 1999.

 

You can submit the coin to NGC under their Error Service and they will determine if it is an error and what type of error it is.
