Do you think if you dipped off that AT that the coin might go MS67?

Oh, man, those are some beautiful coins! Original Seated material is just so much more difficult than any guidesheet would have one think. Nice scores! thumbsup2.gif

I wondered about that myself as I was looking at it at first. After closer inspection, my opinion was that it's natural. I ran it by six knowledgable people for their opinions before I bought it, and the consensus was that it's natural. I solicited opinions because I fell in love with it, and didn't want to make a "cloudy" decision based on just my emotions.

Thanks Hoot, and thanks everyone!

Hoot, I enjoy the "no stars" design more than any other. I wish they had kept it actually. I have this thing for "fields" in coin design. I love the "uncluttered look". Large fields in coins accentuate the devices. A coin with no distractions in the fields is what I look for first, even before the devices.

That half-dime is double-awesome! I placed a bid on it, as the no-star seated coins are some of my all-time favorites, but knowing I couldn't stretch out too far, my bid was easily overwhelmed. Congratulations on a fantastic purchase!

Thanks so much for sharing your new purchases! I can see why the Half Dime didn't get into a 7 holder, though. There 's just a tad too many contact marks on the reverse, especially below the M in DIME, and they didn't bump it up for its amazing color, which sometimes they do

My question is why is that dime in a 5 holder? The strike is good, so is the color, and so are the surfaces. Typically, a Seated Dime in 5 has minor contact marks that you can easily see with the naked eye, or if the surfaces are good, the eye appeal is just so-so. I don't see these problems with your coin. The most obvious contact mark is on Miss Liberty's left breast, and I'd hardly call that anything major. I typically see more contact marks on an SLQ in a 6 holder than I can see in this image.
