Quite the spirited dicussion over there. People need to be more concerned about shilling vs. sniping...the shillers are ultimately a great trust problem for eBay...once the trust goes so goes the profits.

I think that Scarsdale is shooting themselves in the foot. Auctions are just that, not beauty contests. I use sniping software occasionally, but just on Ebay to avoid last second bidding wars and shilling. I do not use it to purposely target any specific bidder. I just decide what the coin is worth to me and set that as the snipe price. If a shill wants to play games, I am usually bid out of the coin.

 

Also, Scarsdale needs to keep in mind that the bidder pays a premium for use of the sniping software.

I'm rather new to selling on eBay,and didn't know that you could end auctions early if they already had bids.How do you go about doing this?Not that I'm planning on cutting anyone off,but it's always good to have safe-guards...
