why huge difference in prices?

10 posts in this topic

Are you asking about the $5,000 difference in the two, or are you asking why they're so pricey in general?

If your asking the former: (1) there's a difference in the grades between the two; (2) it eBay and you can ask whatever you want for an item.

If you're asking the latter: there have only been about 60 of these Cheerio patterns (varieties?) discovered. When the govt minted these they used a different die than the ones for normal production. I don't follow any modern coins, but it would be my reasoning that these are pricey coins because so few have been discovered... Like many other low mintage coin.

On Ebay Sacagawea Cheerios 2000P MS68 PL for $30,000.00 and MS66 for $25.000. Why this huge price?

Read this..........

It won't tell you why some people are willing to fork out ridiculous prices, but at least it will give you the background on the coin.

I still have the one that I questioned before in this forum. I was told to spend it..but I held on to it. I also looked at other prices for 2000P some are very cheap and other than the grade why are they priced so cheap? How can they tell the cheerio version from the normal version? I don't know what I have but my guess due to this small town would be a cheerio version. That might not be a good guide to follow but I just thought

I read that too but, still confused about the cheerio version and the "other" version. I guess I will keep reading it until I can understand it. I have one but, oh well, I am going to read it again and look at the photo.

Thank you for responding

moneyhoney,

The pictures in the link that cpm9ball gave you show the difference clearly.

You'll need a magnifying glass to see the difference on the coin in person, though.

From what I just read, it seems the Cheerio $1 has enhanced feathers. Google "Cheerios Sacagawea dollar"... That search should give you plenty of info on the coin.

Alright, I am going there...thank you. Otherwise, I guess I WILL have to spend it. Imagine in a small town and I go in a store and give the cashier this dollar and it LOOKS like gold, wow!! Oh well, much-ado-about-nothing

Thanks
