What is the most fun set you've put together?

My award-losing matched set of "7-11 Parking Lot Cents" was the most fun to assemble. Also, you often meet a better class of person than some of the coin show circuit dealers.....at least the mustard and pickle stains match the shoes.

Roger, I'm told that the Circle K PLC's are a lot rarer and worth more. Those from Race Trac are the easiest to find.

Well, we don't have any of those in my area -- I found the WAWA parking lot cents are often stained with gasoline and imitation cheese dip. Do coins from those other places hurt my register values? I already have -7,651 points and would not want to move up to -6,000 or so....

Though not complete, and perhaps never will be, my Large Cents are the most fun. I've had other sets in the past, and all were enjoyable, but the big cents give me a feeling of being tied into the past, with the first collectors, who could not really afford to save anything with a value above one cent :-) I also like them because they are not as widely collected as some other coins, so a

"scarce" piece (either minted, surviving, or high grade) sells for maybe 10% of the amount of an equally scarce Morgan Dollar. Not to mention, copper (to me) has more "character" than silver or nickel....

I have put together a fair amount of Barber sets over the years -

in all denominations. Standing Liberty Quarters as well. A couple

of Walker sets in MS and AU. Mercury Dimes in MS and AU too.

These were all very enjoyable assembling !

The most fun I had was putting together a complete 144 + 2 Norse Medals

Commemorative set. The Arkansas group was the hardest to locate in original

condition.- I was after mostly creamy white coins with rim toning - and I think

I did pretty well if I do say so myself.

I ended up selling the entire set to a dealer for his customer, who had the

#1 Modern Commem. Collection at PCGS. He had a few earlier Commems -

some were arguably a little nicer than mine - his Lafayette was a 65 and I had

a 64. { Mine had more eye appeal, IMHO} These coins are now part of the JB3

Collection.

A very nice Gentleman from these Boards offered to assist me in displaying

my collection - from images that were not very good - but the presentation

was very professional.
