Hi,

I am an extreme newbie to coin collecting. smile.gif I have a handfull of coins I've thrown in a jar since I was a kid (anything I stumbled upon non US) Since my daughter has always shown interest in my few coins, I thought it would be fun if she and I started collecting together. So I bought a few pounds off ebay. We are not into the serious collecting yet so not really looking for pristine or expensive stuff. Cheap on Ebay will start us off fine. smile.gif

With a combination of common sense and the internet we have been able to identify what country they are from, all but one. This last one has us stumped, as there is nothing that we can read. We were hoping someone could tell us what country this is from.

It has scalloped edged and is silver in color. Very light weight (feels more like cheap tin). Has what looks like the number 1 on one side and 3 sprigs of wheat? on the other side.

Thank you.

Welcome to the boards, mashley. Looks like you have an Israeli Agorah that I think is dated 1969. They are pretty common coins, worth about a quarter in uncirculated condition.

Rex-

Thanks so much!

MTHead-

You know, I was going to say aluminum to start with, but it just came out tin. Thank you. We were going to go out and get some books today to tell us more about collecting and how to store/label them, but we got snowed in here on the east coast. smile.gif
