A definition of a JH Exceptional! But I've highlited Jim's meaningful message here!

Welcome! And thank you for taking (the) time to view these Exceptional Coins. At Heritage, we all yeahok.gif strive every day to ensure that you are offered the highest quality coins available. I personally spend many hours in the coin room carefully analyzing our inventory for hi.gif strike, eye appeal, surfaces, and luster. On occasion, I happen upon a coin that is, without question, truly exceptional for the grade. Often, these coins are better than others I've seen graded even higher by the same grading services! Whenever I discover such a coin in inventory, I authorize it (to) be given the JH EXCEPTIONAL designation. Heritage proudly presents these coins to you here. I hope you have as much fun viewing them as I did finding them for you. 27_laughing.gif Take your time and enjoy the beautiful high-resolution images of all your favorites. I think you will agree that these rare finds represent some of the best numismatic values available.

Well folks! Here's one of those exceptional coins brought to you by Jimmy!

What an exceptional coin it is in respect to strike, eye appeal, surfaces and luster. foreheadslap.gif

27_laughing.gif ROFLMAO 27_laughing.gif Thank you James! screwy.gif

The problem with these people at Heritage and Bowers and Merena and the like, they don't have a clue on how modern coins should/NEED to be graded! No one has really asked the collectors who have the years of experience collecting a series/denomination of coins. All these people do is show up for work and come up with a million ways to sell coins through hyped up superlative descriptions that don't even come close to what the coin actually looks like! 27_laughing.gif

Oh, by the way, happy holidays to........... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif, the heck with that screwy.gif,

Merry Christmas acclaim.gif

It looks like it was struck through cheese cloth??????? How did the Steps stike up fully when the rest of the coin is without detail????

Clearly, KC, you miss the entire point of minutia-designators. 893naughty-thumb.gif They have nothing to do with the coin overall, rather they are all about a pre-determined 2% surface area of the coin. 893naughty-thumb.gif

Please, learn this distinction before you collect wrong. sumo.gif

27_laughing.gif You guys crack me up! Well, with a little math, I want everyone to take note that the steps make up less than 1% of the total area of the entire nickel!

This is just another gross misrepresentation in grading coins by a TGS! Leo

Okay, I'm not certain who's missing whose joke here, but in my initial post, I was joking! foreheadslap.gif

My take on all these designations (FH, FB, FBL, FS, FT, RD, RB, BN, and so on) is that they can be garbage. So, when I write that clearly the only thing important about that nickel is the FS designation, I mean it as a joke and a slam on people who buy based upon the slab. smile.gif

Leo, you want to use mm instead of cm in your calculations. It does not change the percentage outcome, but it is the wrong unit.

Oops! Perhaps I was thinking of some kind of scurvy little creature, like the centapede! blush.gif I did ask my daughter if the formula was correct! Well, I can't go back and change it or I'll have to delete, re-upload my pic to vendio and recopy it to the post again if I did! laugh.gif

On another note, I wasn't aware of your 2% post when I did my 1% pic. Thanks for the hindsight.

In typical Heritage fashion, I'll never see the picture of this nickel.

They appear to have the slowest and, IMO, the most unfriendly coin website going. Maybe I'm the last human on dial-up, but the photos on Heritage rarely come up for me. I'll wait about 5 minutes whille a little hour-glass twirlls around, then the page will time out. It keeps me off their site, unfortunately....

Yep, I caught that too. If cm's was the unit of measurement than that would be one big nickel!
